“Dreams of Violets” to World Premiere at Tribeca Festival as the First Feature-Length, Live-Action Film Completely Generated by AI Accepted to a Major Film Festival

Fountain 0, a new AI company dedicated to the generation of full-length high-quality AI generated motion pictures and television programs, announced today that its debut film, Dreams of Violets, will have its world premiere at the 2026 Tribeca Festival on Wednesday, June 10 in New York City. The screening marks the first full-length, live-action film, completely generated by AI, to be accepted by a major film festival. Two of the most important issues in the world today are the war in Iran, and the leaps and bounds of AI technology. This film, “Dreams of Violets”, sits at the confluence of these two major stories. The film is a fictional dramatization of the events around the massacre of Iranian civilians by Iranian government forces in January during which purportedly thousands of Iranians were killed.

While every image and person in the film is AI generated, it is based on journalistic reports, photographs, and eyewitness accounts from which AI video models were used to create a remarkably touching, impactful and at times shocking film. The combination of creativity and technological innovation resulted in a film that appears as realistic as films produced through traditional human labor.

While there have been reports of the development of full-length live action AI-generated films being distributed previously, this is the first such film to actually be fully produced and made available to a public ticket buying audience.

The film’s creators, two brothers Ash and Pooya Koosha, who are first time filmmakers, are Iranian born and left the country in 2009. They have become leading experts in the development of AI technology. They founded Claigrid, Inc., a company devoted to democratizing access to agentic AI, particularly focused on people needing supplemental sources of income. The new film company, Fountain 0, built on those ideas and set out to democratize long-form movie story telling. This first film proves that such full-fledged democratization of the highest quality of film making now exists.

Having developed cutting edge, incredibly sophisticated video creation techniques through the orchestration of multiple AI video tools and models, which have not been brought to the market previously by any AI firm, the Koosha brothers have created a film which is indistinguishable from an independent film with human writers, directors, and actors.

“This is a very personal story to us having experienced brutality in Iran, and so the brutality that came about as a result of the January protests in Iran hit a real nerve with us. So we wanted our first Fountain 0 film to be dedicated to something that we felt the world needed to know more about and understand the human toll of far better. Since there has been extremely little first-hand journalism on these events, and the internet has been shut down, producing the first AI full feature film we felt needed to be on this topic. Every single image and scene in the film is AI generated,” said Ash Koosha, CEO of Fountain 0 and producer of the film.

Pooya Koosha, Co- Founder of Fountain 0 and producer/post- producer of the film, said, “Having been deeply involved for a number of years in how AI could be utilized and tamed at the highest and most sophisticated levels, I realized our video production techniques were way ahead of the rest of the marketplace. I also realized that our ability for each subsequent film to improve on our AI production techniques is an enormous opportunity for Fountain 0 to exploit.”

Tom Rogers, media industry veteran and Executive Chairman of Fountain 0, and executive producer, explained, “Beyond the remarkable story the film tells, there is a remarkable story to the making of this film. Balancing his day job, Ash spent time at night over the course of two months utilizing proprietary elements that the brothers had developed that refined output from the most leading-edge AI video models. In bringing the film to life, Ash’s creation was truly a one man production. Then Pooya brought great cinematic post-production finesse, while driving incredibly efficient cost management techniques to the making of the film. The film cost $2,000 to make – not the $2 million or more a comparable independent film might cost. These same techniques can bring the cost of making big budget Hollywood films from $200 million or more down to close to zero, and sprout an enormous stream of new movies – hence Fountain 0.”

Ash continued, “This will understandably bring chills down the spine of many in Hollywood. However, for the many independent filmmakers, and would be independent filmmakers, whose biggest barrier is access to money to make their films, Fountain 0 technology solves for the financial barriers they face. As a first time film creator, there is no way I could have brought this film to fruition without what our AI tools enabled me to do. Moreover, we will actively seek top writer and director talent whose creativity can be harnessed to produce great movies without their imaginations and visions facing any financial constraints.”

Tom added, “When I showed ‘Dreams of Violets’ to one of the most prominent names in the independent film business, and an independent film producer himself, his reaction was that the film was a stunning accomplishment, that was truly beautiful in its artistry, if at times haunting. He had no idea when he watched the film that it was wholly AI generated. When he found out, he was completely blown away that instead of what he would have expected AI to generate as a motion picture, it created an incredibly poignant story both so personal to the Koosha’s and yet so important for the world to see.”

Ash and Pooya further explained, “We fully understand the very genuine sensitivities of those individuals working in the movie industry, and like them we are worried what the unknown implications are for the livelihoods of many. New types of jobs will undoubtedly be created in the AI film generation world. But the reality is that this film never would have been made if it were not for the AI capabilities that we were able to develop.”

A page has been created on Rotten Tomatoes to capture audience reaction to this milestone film.
