Bitwarden Expands Self-Hosting Deployment Options with AWS and Microsoft Azure Marketplace Availability

Bitwarden, the trusted leader in passkey, password, and secrets management, today announced the availability of Bitwarden self-hosted server images in AWS Marketplace and Microsoft Azure Marketplace, expanding deployment options for organizations that choose to run Bitwarden within existing cloud environments.

The new listings allow administrators to quickly and easily deploy a Bitwarden self-hosted server directly into an AWS or Azure account with a pre-configured virtual machine that comes preloaded with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, Docker, Docker Compose, and the Bitwarden installation script, helping teams move from marketplace setup to Bitwarden server configuration with less manual preparation.

Simplified deployment for AWS and Azure environments

The marketplace deployment flow helps administrators move from cloud setup to Bitwarden configuration with less manual preparation. Organizations can configure resource groups, security groups, virtual machine names, administrator access, SSH keys, and firewall settings through existing AWS or Azure setup processes.

After the marketplace setup is complete, administrators connect to the instance and continue through the standard Bitwarden self-hosted setup process. This reduces early deployment friction for teams that already manage infrastructure and network configurations in AWS or Azure.

More control for self-hosted password management

Self-hosting gives organizations more direct control over where Bitwarden runs and how the server connects to existing infrastructure. Marketplace deployment helps organizations keep Bitwarden within existing AWS or Azure environments while maintaining control over access, networking, billing, and server operations.

Bitwarden self-hosting is designed for organizations with the technical resources to manage the underlying server environment, including operating system updates, backups, infrastructure health monitoring, and other operational requirements.

Availability and resources

Bitwarden self-hosted server images are now available in AWS Marketplace and Azure Marketplace, joining the existing DigitalOcean deployment option. The marketplace images are available at no charge beyond applicable AWS or Azure infrastructure costs. Bitwarden self-hosting is available in Enterprise plans and all Individual plans.

Organizations can learn more through the Bitwarden Help Center, including marketplace deployment documentation and the Linux self-host installation guide.
